Books, Bookshops, and Romance: A Match Made in Heaven

There’s something inherently romantic about a bookshop—especially one like Ori’s, where coffee and stories mingle in the air. For Ori, One More Page is more than a business; it’s her sanctuary.

Every book, mug, bag, and muffin—are mine. I never imagined I’d wind up living in a tiny town in upstate New York, but One More Page is where I belong.

But for Ash, Ori’s bookstore is both a fascination and a frustration:

After renting the rundown space beside me, she turned the dank hovel into a bookstore, complete with a gourmet coffee bar and a stage for open-mic nights. It was a night-and-day difference.

Bookshops are natural settings for romance. They’re intimate, filled with stories waiting to unfold—and for Ash and Ori, those stories include snarky arguments and the occasional ladder rescue. In The First Spark, the bookstore becomes a place where tension, humor, and maybe even love collide. Because if there’s one thing readers love more than books, it’s the chance for a great romance between the shelves.
